Mt. Everest Expedition: A life changing journey to highest peak of planet!!
Conquering the top of Mt. Everest – the highest point of planet at 8,848m – is truly a great accomplishment. The climbing journey to the summit takes months of preparation and weeks of acclimatization to adjust your body at thin atmospheric level. Not only you have to be physically sound, your inner soul must be strong at a same time.
Mt Everest was first climbed by Tenzing Norga Sherpa and Edmund Hillary with a British expedition in 1953. Spring and autumn are the best season to climb Everest.
Acclimatization Climb to Lobuche Peak
Mystic Mountain Trek will schedule a pre-climb journey to the Lobuche Peak to ensure proper acclimatization and build up your confidence for successful ascent.
Base Camp is nestled on a moving glacier just below the huge Nuptse-Lhotse wall. You will set a camp on a base camp which is engulfed by Mt.Pumori and the Khumbu Icefall. Here you will set camp for 45 days.
You have to be cautious to climb to the Camp1 as the entire trail menders through dreadful Khumbu Icefall. On the way, there are many deep crevasses, towering ice seracs and avalanches. Follow the lead of guide strictly.
The climb from Camp 1 to Camp 2 encounters many crevasses. Sometime you have to use ladders to cross the ice holes.
The climbing trip from C2 to C3 is difficult because of its altitude and the oxygen is yet to be used. The climbing trail is steep and you will use a fixed rope to climb. The inclination of trail varies from 20 – 45 degree.
The route from Camp3 to Yellow Band is steep and is moderately challenging as the altitude rises. You will use oxygen cylinder for the first time.
To reach Geneva Spur, you have to climb steeply inclined terrain full of rocks and snows.
The south Col is just 1 hour of steep climb from Geneva Spur. South Col is a flat rock strewn area and engulfed by Everest and Lhotse. You will tent together with a fellow climbers and put a heavy rocks to protect from strong winds.
You will use oxygen supplement to climb the steep section. All the routes are fixed by ropes but you have to be cautious of falling rocks. Now you are on the heart of Everest.
The climb from Balcony to South Summit is steep – so climb slow and gradual. This route is the most technical and you have to climb carefully esp on smooth rock section. As you reach the south summit – the views are simply mindblowing.
Subject to exposed sections, the climbing journey from south summit to Hillary step is quite hazardous. However, the presence of fixed rope ensures your safety.
The last part of ascent is a final climb from Hillary Step to the summit. The climbing trail is moderately inclined through snow strewn route. As you reach the top, you feel insane.
After summit, you will return back to south col ( 4 – 7 hours) and then to camp 2 (3 hours) before finally returning back to base camp (4 hours).
