Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek takes you deep inside the Annapurna conservation Area and allows you to enjoy its astonishing Himalayas and amazing culture.

This trek is ideal for families who wish to savor the Himalayan experience at a comfortable altitude without forcing to push your limits. From magnificent Himalayan panorama to amazing culture and diverse ecosystem, this trek is filled with tons of adventure and discoveries. You will stay overnight at a local teahouse which offers the firsthand experience of local culture and lifestyle. Magar and Gurung are the major inhabitants of the region: they are globally known for their bravery in British Gurkha Regiment.

Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek starts from your hotel in the nature playground of Pokhara. After a 1.5 hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the trek passes through Tikhedhunga and Ulleri on your way to Ghorepani. The trekking path snakes through terraced farmlands and ancient woodland of rhododendron, oak and bamboo forest. Walking from one ridge to another, you can enjoy the dramatic views of 6,000m+ himalayan peaks. 

Hindus Braham and Chettri inhabits the lower reaches while Tibetan Bermo group: the Magar and Gurung reside at the higher elevation. The faciniting architecture, heritage sites and chance to experience their intriguing warmth adds great dimension to the trek. 

Poon Hill 

Poon Hill at 3,210m is the popular hilltop viewpoint which offers the stretching and heavenly view of Himalayas and majestic sunrise. A pre-dawn hike from Ghorepani takes you to the grassy knoll of Poon Hill - offering great view of Magnificent sunrise and 70km superb Himalayas that includes Dhaulagiri, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Macchhapuchhre and Manaslu.

Day 06: Tadapani to Ghandruk to Napapul and drive back to Pokhara
Day 07: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will receive you and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. You can rest in a hotel for a while and later explore our company office in Thamel. In the evening, you will join a welcome dinner where you will experience delicious Nepalese cuisine. We will introduce you with your trek leader and he will brief you about the trip.

After breakfast, you will start a sightseeing trip around the Kathmandu valley. These include the architectural masterpiece and UNESCO protected world heritage sites - Kathmandu Durbar Square (ancient royal seat of Nepal), Pashupatinath (sacred temple of Nepal), Swayambhunath (2,000 years old monkey temple) and Boudhanath (largest stupa of Nepal).

After completion of the trip, you will drive to our office and make all the necessary preparations for the next day’s trip.

Today, you will take an early morning flight to Pokhara - the stunning lake city and enjoy the incredible views of Himalayas from the right side of the plane. Once you land at Pokhara airport, you will drive to Nayapul (1.5 hours) on a private vehicle to reach the starting point of the trek. From Nayapul, you will walk to Birethanti located at the juncture of Modi and Bhurungdi Kholas. Further, you will climb gradually to Sudame (1,340m) and then climb regularly to Tikhedhunga (1,510m). After long and steep climb through rocky stone stairs, you will finally reach the Ulleri village.

Activity Duration25 min flight, 75 min drive, 5 - 6 hours trek
The trek starts early in the morning along the great landscapes and stunning view of Annapurna south and Hiunchuli. The climb continues through the lush and dense rhododendron and oak forest for several hours with a rest break to reach Ghorepani. From here, you will get the marvelous views of Dhaulagiri I and Annapurna Himal.

Activity Duration4 - 5 hours
After early, 3 - 4 hours steep trek will lead you to the grassy knoll of Poon Hill. You will start pre-dawn to enjoy mesmerizing sunrise over the Himalayas. This popular landmark offers the unobstructed views of Dhaulagiri and Upper Dolpo to the west, across the Annapurna (Annapurna I, 8091m) to Macchapucchre (6,997m, Fish tail) and east to Manaslu (8,156m). Besides the Himalayan views, you can enjoy the ocean of Sal forest that stretches the far horizon.

After exploration, you will descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast and after breakfast, you will join the eastward trail to Tadapani through numbers of ridges.

Activity Duration6 - 7 hours
Today, the trail drops down to the large settlement of Gurung village of Ghandruk (2.5 hours). If time allows, you can visit the Gurung traditional museum. Further, you will walk through a trail nearby Modi Khola and then descend gradually to the village of Kimche. The trail onward from here is relatively flat up to Birethanti. Beyond Birethanti, the trail drop down to the rocky defile to Nayapul - 1.5 hours road transport will take you back to Pokhara.

After breakfast, you will fly back to Kathmandu which takes about 25 - 30 minutes. Once in Kathmandu, our airport representative will drive you back to the hotel. Evening: you will attend a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.
