With varied landscapes, from magnificent mountain ranges to barren rocky landscapes, glaciers to waterfalls and rivers, Everest three pass trek is blessed with exquisite terrain and landscapes, all leading to breathtaking vistas and beauty like no other.

When you stand on the summit of high passes in the Everest region, you sense the vast expanse of the Himalayas that breathes to a different rhythm to the rest of the earth. Strangely jagged peaks, insane ice formations, several miles long glaciers, scary heights and fascinating local culture - all inexplicably make you smile. You are really here.

The 3 high pass trek in Everest region offers the ultimate trekking experience in Khumbu region. You will be crossing three high passes above 5,300m and making a circular trek around Khumbu region exploring EBC and Gokyo valley.  On this trek, you will be exploring each and every highlight that Everest region has to offer.

Everest Three Pass Trek starts after a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla - the major gateway to the upper Khumbu region. You will then follow classic EBC trail up to Namche, Tengboche and Chhukung and prepare to cross the daunting Kongma La Pass. After Kongmala, you will walk down Lobuche and push towards the fabled Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar.

As you embark on a journey to Chola Pass, you will have a great opportunity to enjoy the adventure, nature and intriguing culture. The summit of pass offers the grand view of Himalayas that crowds your northern horizon. Further, you will hike through the largest Ngozumpa glacier to get into the Gokyo valley. You will explore magical Gokyo lakes, climb popular Gokyo Ri view point and cross Renjo La Pass before finally returning back to Lukla.

Everest Three Pass Trek Difficulty

Everest Three Pass Trek is the most difficult trek in the Everest region and requires serious effort but is also the most rewarding. It is very important to be in perfect physical condition. As it concerns high altitude trek, you must be acclimated properly as it affects your oxygenation, energy levels and hydration.

All the passes are steep - every time you cross them your lungs will work really hard on certain places.

Another important things to consider is that each passes has to tackled in one go, as there are no lodges, tea shops or shelter in between the start and destination villages (eg. Chhukung to Lobuche).

Everest High Pass Trek is perfect for those who are seasoned trekkers, with a sense of “adventure” and are reasonably trekking fit - fit for hiking on rough and uneven terrain.
